The GCA Knowledge Portal, first launched in January 2021, supports GCA’s role as a solutions broker. The website provides four main services:
The information on the GCA Knowledge Portal is divided into three pillars: climate change and impacts, planning and action, and engage and learn.
Through interactive visualizations of data and knowledge, this pillar provides users with analysis, data, and metrics to raise awareness about climate risks and highlight action areas. Global maps, analysis and country profiles presented in this section include a diverse range of information on climate-driven risk, vulnerability and readiness, and multi-sector risk.
The second pillar provides adaptation practices implemented by governmental and/or non-governmental actors at various scales. Under this pillar, the platform displays profiles with detailed deep dives that can form the bases for policy, planning and action.
With this pillar, the GCA Knowledge Portal supports both aspiring and practicing adaptation specialists by offering resources including GCA knowledge products, perspective pieces, background papers and more. Through online professional certification courses, the GCA Knowledge Portal equips practitioners and students with practical adaptation knowledge.
