Welcome to the GCA Knowledge Portal

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) acts as a solutions broker and innovation hub. Working with partners and collaborating institutions, GCA highlights climate risks, delivers projects and initiatives, and provides resources for capacity building and avenues for community building.

The GCA Knowledge Portal makes information and knowledge on adaptation accessible and actionable – as a comprehensive online source connecting adaptation science, policy and practice.

The GCA Knowledge Portal, first launched in January 2021, supports GCA’s role as a solutions broker. The website provides four main services:

  • providing open access and interactive visualization of data and knowledge
  • facilitating knowledge-sharing and learning
  • guiding and enabling the implementation of adaptation solutions
  • providing a coherent global perspective on adaptation

Strategy and Planning to Redouble Adaptation in Africa: A Review

This study provides a detailed review of the national strategic adaptation documents prepared by governments in the African continent. It examines the main characteristics of these strategic adaptation plans, their depth and coverage, and the degree to which these documents demonstrate a supportive environment to implement the most critical adaptation programs at scale for each country.

Accelerating adaptation action

The Global Center on Adaptation is an international organization working as a solutions broker to accelerate action and support for adaptation solutions, from the international to the local, in partnership with the public and private sector.

Founded in 2018, our global office is hosted by the Netherlands in Rotterdam, with regional offices in Africa, South Asia and Asia Pacific and a research and innovation hub based in Groningen. We engage in innovative solutions to drive adaptation at scale, high-level policy development, new research contributions, advocacy, communications, and work with our partners to deliver action on the ground.
