Adaptation Knowledge Portal

Welcome to the GCA Knowledge Portal

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) acts as a solutions broker and innovation hub. Working with partners and collaborating institutions, GCA highlights climate risks, delivers projects and initiatives, and provides resources for capacity building and avenues for community building.

The GCA Knowledge Portal makes information and knowledge on adaptation accessible and actionable – as a comprehensive online source connecting adaptation science, policy and practice.

The GCA Knowledge Portal, first launched in January 2021, supports GCA’s role as a solutions broker. The website provides four main services:

  • providing open access and interactive visualization of data and knowledge
  • facilitating knowledge-sharing and learning
  • guiding and enabling the implementation of adaptation solutions
  • providing a coherent global perspective on adaptation

The GCA Knowledge Portal is organized into three pillars:

Accelerating adaptation action

The Global Center on Adaptation is an international organization working as a solutions broker to accelerate action and support for adaptation solutions, from the international to the local, in partnership with the public and private sector.

Founded in 2018, our global office is hosted by the Netherlands in Rotterdam, with regional offices in Africa, South Asia and Asia Pacific and a research and innovation hub based in Groningen. We engage in innovative solutions to drive adaptation at scale, high-level policy development, new research contributions, advocacy, communications, and work with our partners to deliver action on the ground.

The GCA Knowledge Portal brings together data, analysis, and information on adaptation from across the globe. Individual parts of the GCA Knowledge Portal feature data from a variety of sources. We would, therefore, like to acknowledge the work done by these institutions and organizations who have helped to strengthen the evidence base on climate change and given impetus to adaptation action. The list below details these sources per feature.
