Engage and Learn

There's always more to learn about adaptation-related risk, readiness and resiliency as researchers and practitioners develop techniques and technologies for addressing the complexities of climate-driven challenges.

E-learning

Accelerating adaptation requires improved access to and better use of existing data, information and knowledge. Our digital classroom hosts interactive courses and resources, including massive open online courses (MOOCs). These materials can help you build knowledge on climate change adaptation and develop the skills to put theory into practice.

Toolkit for Youth on Adaptation & Leadership

Climate change is reshaping the world young people have inherited and they will bear the costs in the coming decades. However, young people are often excluded from taking on leadership roles and engaging in decision-making activities related to climate change adaptation.  Developed in collaboration with youth organizations across Africa, the Toolkit for Youth on Adaptation & Leadership equips young people with the knowledge and skills to engage in climate adaptation policy, advocacy, and action.

The Water Adaptation Community

The Water Adaptation Community (WAC) aims to connect all who work on water issues and nature-based solutions across sectors and professions to share experience and knowledge. The purpose is to support scaling up and jointly overcoming implementation challenges. It goes beyond the "water sector" to bridge the whole Water Community – that includes practitioners, implementers, managers and operators working on issues that affect water from food security to city planning, climate and disaster management.

States and Trends in Adaptation

In 2019 GCA's research unit, Research for Impact (R4I), initiated an effort to track the state and trends of adaptation needs, solutions, and actions.

The 2020 report presents a general overview of all regions.

The 2021 report reviews issues in Africa.

The 2022 report maintains and follows through on that Africa focus.

State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2020

The State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2020 is the first in a series that will assess progress on climate adaptation and provide guidance and recommendations on best practices in adapting to the effects of a changing climate and building resilience to climate shocks.

State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2021

The State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2021 combines in-depth analyses, case studies, and viewpoints from those on the front lines of climate change impacts in Africa. It presents a detailed blueprint for action by offering innovative adaptation and resilience ideas, solutions, and policy recommendations.

State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2022

The State and Trends in Adaptation Report 2022 provides Africa's most comprehensive overview of current and future climate risks, as well as the vital strategies to adapt. It builds on the 2021 report by expanding its analysis of Africa and providing a deep dive into the economics and finance of climate change adaptation. The 2022 report includes new research on climate change consequences for the private sector and outlines the potential costs and benefits of adaptation interventions in Africa.
