2023 MEDIA TRAINING

In 2023, the Global Center on Adaptation partnered with BBC Media Action to train and mentor 40 local television journalists from Gaibandha, Kurigram, Rangpur, Bhola, Patuakhali, and Bagerhat – six climate vulnerable districts in Bangladesh – on reporting on locally led adaptation efforts.

HOW CAN MEDIA GIVE VOICE TO THE VOICELESS?

Research by BBC Media Action in Bangladesh earlier in 2023 revealed that adaptation efforts by communities and individuals are often not reported or communicated as local media focus mainly on climate disasters and the international negotiations on climate change. Through the training received on effectively reporting Locally Led Adaptation, the trainee journalists have captured and published stories on the local efforts of communities to tackle the impacts of climate change.
